What is collected, why, and how to have it removed.

Who we are

Ashwood Carpentry & Building is a carpentry and building business based in Pencoed, Bridgend county, working across Bridgend, Cowbridge, the Vale of Glamorgan and Cardiff. If you want to talk to us about anything on this page, email ashwoodbuilding@outlook.com or call 07940 072166.

What we collect, and when

We only collect what you give us. That is normally your name, your phone number, your email address if you supply one, the service you are asking about, and whatever you write in the message. It reaches us when you fill in one of the enquiry forms on this site, send us a WhatsApp message, email us, or ring and leave your details.

We do not ask for and do not want payment card details, dates of birth, or any of the special category information the UK GDPR treats as sensitive. Please do not send those to us.

What we use it for

To reply to you, to arrange a measure-up, to write and send you a price, and to carry out the work if you go ahead. If you ask us for something we do not do, we use it to tell you that and point you elsewhere.

We do not sell your details to anyone, and we do not pass them to other trades for marketing. Where a job genuinely needs another trade, for example an electrician on a media wall, we will ask you before we share anything.

The lawful basis

For an enquiry, we rely on taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and on our legitimate interest in answering people who contact us. Once you book work, we rely on performing that contract. If we ever want to send you marketing, we will ask for your consent first and you can withdraw it at any time.

Who else sees it

Your enquiry is handled through the systems we use to run the business, which include our website host, our customer records system, and Google for the website analytics and advertising measurement described below. Those providers process the information on our instructions and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. Nobody else sees your enquiry unless you have asked us to involve them.

How long we keep it

For an enquiry that does not turn into work, we keep it while we are dealing with it and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back to us. For work we have carried out, we keep the job record for as long as we need it for tax, insurance and any guarantee on the work, and then we delete it.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict what we do with it, and object to us using it. Email ashwoodbuilding@outlook.com and we will deal with it. There is no charge and we will respond within one month.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

This site is hosted on Vercel, and keeps a small amount of information in your browser so the pages work and so a form you have already filled in does not ask you twice.

We also use Google Analytics to see how the site is used, and Google Ads conversion tracking to see which of our adverts led to an enquiry. Both set cookies and both record which pages you look at here. We use this to decide where to spend our advertising money, not to identify you.

If you enquire after clicking one of our adverts, we may also send Google a scrambled version of your phone number or email address so it can match that enquiry back to the click. The scrambling happens in your browser and Google never receives your actual number or address from this site. If you would rather that did not happen, use the opt-outs below or simply call us instead.

You can turn off Google Analytics on every website you visit with Google's own browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, and you can control how ads are personalised to you at myadcenter.google.com. Your browser settings will also let you block or delete cookies, and the site will still work if you do.

Changes to this page

If what we do with your information changes, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
