Skirting, architrave and coving
Mouldings changed while the room is already apart. The cheap moment to do it is the one most people miss.

Common questions
Can you match my existing profile?
Usually. Torus, ogee, chamfered and square are all standard and readily available. A very old or unusual profile sometimes needs running specially, which we flag before ordering because it changes the price.
Does it come painted?
White primed comes ready for a topcoat, not finished. Oak veneered comes ready for finishing. Either way there is painting to do afterwards, so factor that in rather than being surprised by it.
Do I need to move the furniture?
The perimeter of the room needs clearing by about a metre. The middle can stay where it is, covered.
Can it be done without redecorating?
Rarely, if the skirting is changing height. There will be a paint line on the wall where the old one sat. If you would rather not redecorate, tell us and we will pick a profile that covers the old line.
Is coving worth it in a modern house?
It depends on the ceiling height. In a room much under two and a half metres a deep coving closes the room in. There are shallower profiles that work well, and if we think it is wrong for the room we will say so rather than sell it to you.

Wardrobes
Fitted wardrobes or freestanding: what you actually gain
Fitted costs more than a flat-pack. Here is what the money buys, and when freestanding is genuinely the better call.

Wardrobes
Why wardrobe doors do not line up, and what scribing is
Walls bow, floors fall away and ceilings drop. Scribing is how a square carcass ends up looking like it grew there.
