Storage built over a stair bulkhead
A fitted box built over a stair bulkhead, carpeted on top so it works as a step into the room and somewhere to sit.

SERVICE
Second-fix carpentry
The bulkhead over the stairs is dead space in most houses, and it usually just collects things on top of it.
Boxed in properly it becomes storage and a step. A drop-down panel in the front gives access to the void underneath, and the top was carpeted to match the floor.
Skirting was run around the base so it sits as part of the room rather than as something added on.

A green oak gable porch framed and pegged on site, sat on carved padstones, with a reclaimed brick path laid up to the door.

Loft boarded out over full-depth insulation
A raised loft deck with the legs screwed down onto the joist tops, so the insulation underneath stays at full depth.
